FOLLOWING a comment on here (thank you, Jean) about a Hedon Walk, HU12 is going to do a series of posts with ideas for exercise walks in the local area. During the current pandemic lockdown then you should minimise the time spent outside of your home but you are permitted to exercise once a day in your local area (see current Government guidance). And of course, walking improves your health and wellbeing.

Example of what3words

Before we get into the series then we want to recommend what3words which is the mapping service and app that we will be referring to throughout. The unique thing about what3words is that it divides the world into individual 3 metre squares and gives each square a unique combination of three words. This is the easiest way to find and share exact locations.

With the service, you can identify precise locations like the start of a trail, a footbridge, a junction, a hazard, a monument or perhaps a good place to stand to get a great photo.

So to fully enjoy our series, you’re invited to look at and seek information on what3words and download the relevant app for your device should you wish.

Some examples of what3words locations we will be using during the series. These what3words addresses refer to a 3 metre square location. Tap the link or enter the 3 words into the free what3words app to find them.

Tell us about your walks.

We would like to include your Walking Guides on HU12 Online. Can you write a Walking Guide? A guide would cover starting and finishing points, the time it takes you to walk, and the route to be walked, what3words locations of interest, along with your experience and observations of doing it, and you could send some photos from your walk too. We can publish your walk on HU12 for the benefit of other residents (and visitors when circumstances permit). Anyone fancies giving it a go? If so, please email your guide ideas to hu12@gmx.com.
