THE KINGSTOWN HOTEL pulled its last pint on Sunday (15th January 2012) as it undergoes a £364,000 transformation that will see it re-launch as a Fayre & Square establishment, creating 15 new jobs.

The pub on Hull Road, Hedon – which reopens again on Monday 30th January – is to undergo a huge refurbishment and will officially launch on Saturday 11th February.

To mark the opening, the Kingstown Hotel is looking for a local family who deserve a treat to officially open the pub on Saturday 11th February. There will also be a free family fun day from 12 noon to 4pm for everyone to come along and be entertained by jugglers, balloon modellers and face painters.

Stuart Plumb, general manager of the Kingstown Hotel, said: “I’m sure there are so many families within the community who are an inspiration to others through their voluntary work or who have overcome hurdles but don’t get any recognition. So I would like to use our opening as an opportunity to say thank you by treating a family to VIP treatment including a meal on us.”

The chosen family will also go forward to a national final to crown the Fayre & Square Family of the Year.

Stuart is also recruiting 15 new team players for part-time positions on the bar and in the kitchen, he said:

“I am on the look out for dynamic, hard working individuals who want to be part of our Fayre & Square family of team players at the Kingstown Hotel.“

The pub will have a new menu featuring Fayre & Square classics such as the Mighty Fisherman’s Feast, Steak & Bombardier Ale Pie and a ‘square’ shaped burger, adding a touch of fun. For the sweet toothed there is also an array of desserts including Banoffee Whoopi Pie and Giant Oaty Knobbly.

If you are interested in a position at the Kingstown Hotel or would like to nominate a ‘Fayre & Square Family’ – it could be a family that do a lot for charity or are celebrating a special occasion – please contact Stuart on 01482 890461.

  1. I agree with the last comment. As a vegeterain could they please put at least a few decent ones on the menu thats why we stopped going in. Just no choice i think there were two choices and not good ones at that either. So we will try it when they reopen.
