LOVE HIM OR HATE HIM, you’ll have heard about David Cameron’s ideas on the Big Society. Well, according to this message from the South Holderness Cricket Club, they were here first! The Hedon based Club is looking for people to help out:
South Holderness Cricket Club was established in 1882 and is solely run by volunteers. We are always on the lookout for people with skills and the time to help out, either on a small or large-scale.
We currently have a few specific roles that need filling – Club Photographer, PR & Media Officer, Treasurer and Secretary. If you have a spare couple of hours a week/month and can help out, or know someone who can – please get in touch, even if you could only do part of the role.
We would love to hear from you also if you can offer other skills not specific to these roles such as organisation & secretarial skills/gardening/hedge trimming/painting/making teas/fundraising/organising events, etc, the list goes on!
We are also supporting the v-cricket England Cricket Board (ECB) initiative, that rewards 16-25 year olds for any volunteering hours they do with certificates, excellent support for your CV and most importantly free polo shirts/hoodies depending on the hours you do! (See the ECB website)
We currently run two senior teams and five junior teams. We are working towards Clubmark, which is a cross sports quality accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections, to ensure that clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards. We have also just become a Focus Club, meaning that we are committed to providing a safe, effective and child friendly Club, working with the ECB, Yorkshire Cricket Board and local schools to provide high quality coaching.
All of this requires organisation and monitoring to ensure we maintain the focus on our commitments to the schemes.
