THORNGUMBALD’S Community Institute is set to re-open. The community building has recently undergone some refurbishment work and a deep clean in order to be COVID secure. It will open again from Sunday 18th October 2020.

HISTORIAN and Honorary Freeman of Hedon, Dr Martin Craven, has written a new local history book entitled “The History of Thorngumbald Hall and its Owners”.
On Sat 4 and Sun 5 July 2020 it’s the 9th Annual Thorngumbald Scarecrow Trail weekend. Residents of the village are asked to demonstrate once again that fantastic imagination they possess by creating scarecrow displays.
‘Clapping for our Carers’ has become part of everyone’s calendar now EVERY THURSDAY AT 8PM. It has been observed in Hedon since March 29th and we’ve seen and heard some wonderful experiences.
This interim group of volunteers aim to offer immediate help where needed in the Hedon and District area and offer pick-up and delivery services of essential supplies to isolated people not receiving help from friends, family or neighbours.
On HU12 Online we have begun the job of identifying which local businesses and services remain open especially if they offer local household delivery enabling people to stay at home.
URGENT: It would be extremely helpful if local shops that are organising grocery delivery services for self-isolating people could list themselves below in the comments or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The desire is to create one useful source of information, please.

It is with immense sadness that I report the passing of Graham Bradshaw on the 31st August. Known to most Hedon folks as the jovial proprietor of Rings & Things, Graham was a lovely man, a true gent with a great sense of humour and fun. Deepest sympathies to Marjorie and all the family. The funeral is on Monday, 9th September and the family’s notice is copied below.
