Friday, May 8 will see VE 75 activities at 3pm which is the time that Prime Minister Winston Churchill announced ‘Peace in Europe’ in 1945. On Market Hill in Hedon, a series of VE 75 events are planned including a brass band, singers, dancers and World War II re-enactments. There will be a 1940’s fancy dress competition for children. St Augustine’s Church will be hosting special VE 75 exhibitions over the weekend set up by the Hedon Museum and the Hedon Women’s Institute.
THE NEW SEASON 2020 at HEDON MUSEUM starts on Wednesday 4 March with an opportunity to learn about a proud maritime tradition on the Humber. Hull-based United Towing Co. Ltd. was the leading towing and salvage company in the UK at the peak of its 70-year history. That history will be reflected in model ships and other displays during the Museum’s opening exhibition from March 4 until April 18th.

Get your entry forms in for the Hedon fun dog show “Scrufts”. The Haven Arms, Havenside in Hedon will once again host Scrufts, the town’s Dog Show organised by Hedon Town Council. The event is the 4th Scrufts organised by the council and proves a popular event each year. The dog show will be held on Saturday, April 25 from 11am in the marquee at the Haven Arms.
The next LIVE PERFORMANCE event at St. Augustine’s Church, Hedon is “Riding the Stang”. This unusual history of Hedon and the surrounding villages is told in contemporary narrative, utilising eyewitness accounts and newspaper reports along with traditional and new folk songs. “Riding the Stang” is written and performed by the Hull Folk Collective.
