THE RESPONSE from Hedon Town Council to proposed parliamentary constituency boundary changes has been agreed. With the perceived ‘expansion plans’ of Hull bringing ‘industry right up to Hedon’s boundaries’ the council has registered its complete opposition to South West Holderness being taken into the Hull East constituency.

Chair Steve Gallant says that the current proposals contain lots of anomalies, need rethinking, and the character of the constituency should be preserved. But the BCE proposals are not “a done deal” he says and urges people to have their say.
THE BOUNDARY REVIEW of Parliamentary constituencies announced yesterday has provoked strong reactions, particularly from MP Graham Stuart and local South West Holderness Councillors.
IT HAS BEEN proposed by the Boundary Commission for England (BCE) that in 2023 a new Kingston Upon Hull East Parliamentary County Constituency is formed that would incorporate the current South West Holderness Ward (Hedon, Paull, Preston, Thorngumbald, etc).
THE BOUNDARY COMMISSION has dropped its proposal to include the South West Holderness Ward in the East Hull Constituency. The existing Beverley and Holderness Parliamentary constituency should be retained, it is recommended.
