Police: Help find Peter the pony!

Police officers are appealing for information from the public after a Shetland pony was stolen from a paddock, near Staithes Road, Preston. The pony, called Peter, was taken sometime between 11:20 pm and 11:30 pm on Saturday 17 July 2021 from a field off Staithes Road, Preston, East Riding of Yorkshire.
Peter is described as a Standard Shetland Pony – 40 inches high to the base of his neck, chestnut colour with blonde mane and tail, a white star on the forehead with a small white snip down centre of his nose.
Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are urging anyone with any information or video footage that may aid their investigation to get in touch.
PCSO Darren Bainton from the Holderness Community Police Team said: “Peter’s owners have been left absolutely devastated by this incident and we are keen to do all we can to trace the people responsible and reunite him with their rightful owners.

“Peter is regularly visited by walkers in the local area, meaning that he is well known by the local community.
“The stables and paddock where Peter was taken from are in a semi-rural area, and in order to have accessed the farm, it is likely that the offenders will have travelled along Staithes Road or Neat Marsh Lane.
“Therefore, as part of our investigation, we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area on the night of the incident and believes they may have seen anything suspicious.
“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may aid our investigation.
“We urge anyone who has any information, no matter how small, or know Peter’s whereabouts or is offered the chance to buy Peter, to call us on 101.”

Anyone with information or footage that may be relevant to the investigation is asked to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting 16/72507/21, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
