Co-op confirms sale of Hedon store

Hedon Co-op has been sold. An independent operator has bought the Market Place store.

In a statement from the Co-op press office, a spokesperson said:

“The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum and while this often involves opening new stores, we also regularly review our existing sites. The decision to sell any store is never taken lightly and, only after careful consideration has our Hedon store been sold.

Our priority has been to fully support colleagues, who all have the opportunity to transfer to the new operator. We would like to thank the community for its support of this store over the years.”

The Co-op is keen to point out that the decision to sell the Hedon store is in no way a reflection on the hard work and commitment of colleagues who work there. The terms and conditions of workers transferring to the new operator will remain unaffected.

It is believed the new independent operator will trade under the Nisa branding.
