Planning: Improvements at Cranswick Foods and new community woodland proposed

A PLANNING APPLICATION validated this week has been submitted by Cranswick Country Foods. Preston’s Staithes Road-based food producer, in a £40m investment, is looking to add frozen food production facilities to the site and improve its office and welfare structure. The company also wishes to improve the site aesthetics and introduce elements of community woodland.

One key aspect of the plan, indicated by the planning documentation, is to provide for fewer heavy goods vehicle movements between the site and its current frozen food facility at King George Dock. The application incorporates new and improved onsite car parking areas with improved access from Neat Marsh Road; new access to a proposed car park off Neat Marsh Lane; and a Comprehensive Landscaping scheme, including a community woodland.

The proposed community-access woodland would comprise a strip of land to the north of Neat Marsh Road and a large area between the proposed staff car park and the village.

The application documents are available to view at the East Riding Public Access website and search for reference: 21/02002/STPLF.
