Kevin the “Cock-a-doodle-doo!” scarecrow was the winning display in last weekend’s 10th Annual Scarecrow Weekend. The result was decided by popular vote on the Thorngumbald Scarecrow Weekend Facebook page.

After 10 years of organising the weekend trail, the current organising group is stepping down. Founder of the weekend annual events, Denise Hardy, had this to say:

“I’d just like to thank everyone who has helped in any way, either by entering a scarecrow, donating, or just coming along and “Bringing Thorngumbald To Life”. I would particularly like to thank the other three ladies in our group, Karen Worsnop, Liz Brown and Janet Barron for all their hard work and dedication. Between us, we have, over the past 10 years raised around £10,000, and helped other local organisations raise funds too.

We have decided that after 10 years it’s time to let someone else take over, and hopefully, a new group is getting together to keep the Scarecrow Trail going. Looking forward to seeing next year’s efforts.”
