A look back at our TOP FIVE popular posts for May 2021.
Which articles proved to be our most popular posts for May?
News of what was planned for the old Hedon Post Office topped our list for the month Hedon delicatessen plan. The planning application proved to be very popular with the public and was passed by planning officers without the need to go to a planning committee.
Remembering the Hedon blitz was the second most popular article. This is quite poignant considering that 10 years ago this tragic incident in Hedon’s history had been almost completely forgotten.
In the third spot, signifying May as the month of the South West Holderness by-election, was A Call to Vote! This was the busiest post over a 24 hour period with over 600 people viewing on 5th and 6th May. Did any of those viewing the article in that crucial pre-election period change their voting intentions as a result? We might never know. But the article did serve as the only arena where all the candidates were quizzed on the same issues.
It was satisfying to see Ruben’s Voice in the top five and of course, the article is still receiving regular views each day. We have since learned from organiser Katy Smith that the concert will be much more than a memorial, but a call for preventative action to reduce depression and improve mental health. The concert itself aims to bring people together in a positive way that can make a difference.
The fifth spot was another by-election feature; the publication of the by-election results. Including as it does a link to the election results in the SW Holderness Ward from 1995 to the present, this is another one of our web pages that will be viewed as a resource for years to come.
