Step Challenge Hedon.
To help raise funds for urgent works required internally and externally at St Augustine’s Church, Hedon.
YVONNE BILLANY is stepping up to raise money for St. Augustine’s Church in Hedon. The wife of the current Hedon Mayor, Yvonne is hoping to be able to make enough steps to walk the equivalent of 2km a day. She’s hoping to raise the equivalent of £4.17 for each kilometre and to reach a modest target of £250 by the end of April 2021. However, meeting the challenge does come with real difficulties for Yvonne. Her JustGiving page explains more:
“After my Husband became the 673rd Mayor of the Historic Town of Hedon. We have had discussions with our Chaplin (Dr Rev Susan Pulko) about the desperate needs for funds for the upkeep of our historic church, St Augustine’s Church. After our Chaplin informed us about falling masonry inside and outside the church. Due to Covid-19, all church services had to stop, therefore no collections or any fundraising events could happen.
“So I personally felt that I wanted to do whatever I could to help. After sitting and thinking hard. I decided on doing a 60 km walk using my stepper in a seated position, as I have MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and mobility issues.
“My goal is to step 2km per day during the month of April. My Husband will be recording my daily distance. I wanted to end my husband’s term as Mayor by giving something back to the community.”
