The latest walk in our series on exercise Walking has to be completed with care. It’s walking the length of Paull Road from the village to the town and best completed walking on the right-hand side of the road so you can see oncoming traffic (but cross the road on occasion to get a better view of oncoming traffic around the gentle bends). It’s not a busy road but there is frequent traffic, and since the lockdowns, you will tend to see more walkers, runners and cyclists than you did prior to the pandemic. It’s worth taking the extra care and effort in order to capture some of the views of local scenes. Can take about 45 minutes.
In combination with our Hedon to Paull walk and the Paull Heritage Trail, it completes a circular route and can give keen walkers a good few hours out.

Leave the village of Paull by the main entrance to the village (Main Street, Back Road junction). And follow the road back to Hedon https://w3w.co/tonic.scenes.create (keep an eye out for oncoming traffic!)
The fields to your left are the site of proposed industrial development. In the distance, you can see the Saltend Chemicals Park

Follow the road along passing the road into Hull on your left. A very distinctive tree https://w3w.co/moral.tend.branch will come into view and the settlement of Newton Garth https://w3w.co/palm.aspect.aura. Newton Garth is an old settlement mentioned in the Domesday Book.
As you pass Newton Garth then to your right through the roadside trees you will see a lone tree in a field. The local photography club Hedon Viewfinders has nicknamed the tree the ‘Benson Tree’ after a club member who has photographed the tree over many years in all seasons.
After passing the Town sign you make your way up the Hedon bypass flyover https://w3w.co/headline.invents.perch which affords some good views to the left and right and is a good spot to see both sunrise and sunset.
Continue into Hedon and turn left into Havenside https://w3w.co/potato.class.weeps and finish your walk at the Haven Arms.
