Community Planting Day – New Hedon Orchard – Wed 11 December 2019

Holderness Community Orchards is holding its first community planting day on Wednesday, 11 December 2019. Planting of up to 28 fruit trees and wildflower bulbs will start at 10 am at Elsie Gate Field on Ivy Lane, and aim to finish by 3 pm. Local school students from Hedon and Inmans Primary schools and Holderness Academy are expected to get involved during the day.

“People can drop in to help at any time during the day to help,” said charity trustee Dave Langcaster “bring your wellies, a trowel and a spade.”

Holderness Community Orchards, a registered charity, has a long-term plan at Elsie Gate which aims to provide free, healthy fruit to the community, promote community engagement and community ownership of the project. Elsie Gate field is situated on Ivy Lane off Market Hill in Hedon near to the cemetery.
