As many church services are being held today to mark the Queen’s 90th Birthday, it is timely to look back at the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebration parade that took place in Hedon 1977. Sent in for our Five Photo Sunday series by Tom Bond.

UPDATE: We have had a further couple of photos sent to us by Liz Harrison which she is pretty certain is the same Silver Jubilee Parade in 1977 (June?) photographed by Tom. And Liz is actually in the photograph – the Brownie with the bobble hat!

Thank you, Tom and Liz, for prompting this nostalgic trip down memory lane for those of us old enough to remember the Silver Jubilee.

  1. Hi, I remember this I also remember sitting on market Hill in the shape of a crown to celebrate the jubilee (all the kids from Ketwell ) and someone taking pics of us out of a window above the doctors surgery I’d love to see those pics as iver never seen them any information or the pics would be wonderful, Carl Boyd .

    1. I remember the crown thing, it was Hedon Primary pupils. Does anyone else still have their Silver Jubilee medallion, we were given them by the mayor, Mr Suggitt?
