♦ MUSIC ♦ ENTERTAINMENT ♦ FOOD ♦ MOTORBIKES… LOTS OF MOTORBIKES ♦
Hedon Biker Weekend – a mini festival of powered two-wheels – takes place from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th April 2016. The first bikers are expected to arrive in Hedon from across the region early on Friday afternoon – but visitors are expected from further afield too; a small contingent (on motor trikes!) will attend from Scotland.
The long weekend will see live entertainment (a full programme of music and bands) at the Haven Arms playing from 8pm on Friday evening until late, and bands perform from 3pm until midnight on Saturday.
All entertainment is open to the public (it’s free to attend but collections will be held throughout the weekend for donations towards the costs of the event and also for various charities).
Hedon Market Place ♦ Sat 16th April 2pm ♦ Parade of motorbikes
Most of the attention will undoubtedly focus on the motorcycles. On Saturday 16th April, the place to be is Hedon Market Place at 2pm when motorbikes will ride through Hedon in dramatic convoy – something never seen in the town before! The convoy will eventually head off to ride the Holderness countryside.
But as well as the parade of bikes through Hedon, many local families will just want to pop along to the Haven Arms to see the bikes parked up. There’ll be lots of opportunities throughout the weekend to see them. The Havenside pub and restaurant will be open all weekend, including from 8am on Saturday morning, serving food and snacks to those keen on motorcycle spotting. So whether it’s burger and chips, a full English breakfast or a fine meal, all motorbike spotters will be catered for.
Hedon Biker Weekend promises to bring something really different to the town. It will be a spectacle that will be enjoyed by all age groups. Look out also for the special stall (selling biker T-Shirts, Fleeces, Sweatshirts, badges and other merchandise) set up by the East Yorkshire Motorcycle Action Group who along with Hedon’s own Holderness Hi Siders Motorcycle Club are partners in the event. There will also be a charity stall promoting the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
“It’s a first and something of a unique event for Hedon!” said Ian Baldwin one of the organisers behind the first Biker Weekend event. “With no guarantee that it’ll be a success, it’s been a brave step from Hedon Town Council events committee, the Haven Arms, and other partners to organise something like this,” commented Ian. “But it should be a brilliant and memorable event for both the biker community and the public.”
