Anne Gwinnell the director of this year’s Hedon Pantomime, Dick Whittington, believes this year’s performance of the group’s annual panto, will show Hedon Drama Group at its funniest and its best. The story of the pauper who travels to London naively believing the streets are paved with gold, but still manages to end up being the Lord Mayor, is a timeless classic pantomime, but will receive the town drama group’s unique theatrical treatment!
Anne says that audiences will love Hedon’s version of Dick Whittington scripted by playwright Ben Crocker. People will be especially delighted by the underwater scene lit by ultra violet lighting. Expect lots of laughs, music and fun with something for all family members.
This year the role of baddie is played by Dave Jordan. Over the last few years, Dave has been a panto favourite playing the comedy Dame intent on collecting the laughs – this time as wicked King Rat, he’ll be gathering and generating the boos! In contrast, Helen Beet plays the good cockney fairy Bow Bells. Expect the comic sparks to fly between these two!
The panto dame, Sarah the Cook, is played by newcomer to the group all the way from Withernsea, Patrick Wilkinson. Lead character Dick Whittington is played by Hedon Drama Group stalwart Cat Jordan.
