GROUPS in HEDON are amongst those eligible to apply for grants of between £100 and £5,000 for projects that can bring enduring benefits to local communities.
The £75,000 Saltend Community Fund has been established by Yorkshire Water as way of saying ‘thank you’ to local communities for their patience whilst work takes place at the Saltend Waste Water Treatment Works to tackle odour problems.
Local groups in the first instance should contact Yorkshire Water for information on the funding stream. But the following provides a general summary:
The Community Fund aims to support projects that; improve the environment, improve the lives of people in the area especially vulnerable people, contribute to education and literacy, and/or provides essential equipment or facilities.
The fund is restricted to groups in the following postcode areas – HU9 4, HU9 5, HU12 8, HU12 9 and HU11 4.
The fund will not support national fund raising activity, funding for individuals, or one off events (fetes, annual shows).
Further information on the announcement by Yorkshire Water about the Community Fund is available on HU12 Online: Yorkshire Water launches Saltend Community Fund and the Hedon Blog will bring further advice and information on the fund later this week.
Date for your diary: The DEADLINE for the return of applications Friday 8th January 2016.
