Home made cake - Hedon Street Angels
Gorgeous home-made cakes!

HOME MADE and donated cakes were the prime feature of the Coffee Morning held by Hedon Street Angels on Saturday at the Hedon Methodist Church

The Hedon Angels Lifestyle Team of Evie Holland, Lizzie Clayton and Evelyn Hambridge, were the hosts of the event on Saturday morning and were busy serving the cakes and coffee in their efforts to raise money for their namesake charity the Hull Street Angels Trinity.

Parent Adviser and Lizzie’s mum Rachel Clayton explained that the girls had done their own research and chosen the Hull-based charity as the beneficiaries of their Operation Lifestyle activities.

Karen Marshall the Chairperson of the Hull Street Angels was delighted at the support being offered by the three 10-year-olds from Inmans Primary School. “We’ve been going three years and this is the first time that an Operation Lifestyle team have supported us in this way, so we’re absolutely delighted that a group of young people have taken such interest in our work!”

Flip Flop table advice
Flip-Flop – Normally associated with holidays, the humble flip-flop brings different benefits when issued by the Street Angels…

The Hull Street Angels are a small charity whose volunteers operate in Hull City Centre on Friday and Saturday evenings between the hours of 9pm and 2am to help those who become vulnerable during the city centre’s busting night-time economy. From the simple acts of providing directions and advice to help people get home safely, to providing basic first aid and re-hydration remedies the Angels do an amazing job! One of the services they provide is to issue flip-flops to those who lose their shoes or are wearing inappropriate footwear for an unexpected long walk home (after a long night out on the town, those new high-heels can prove to be uncomfortable or even dangerous to walk in).

‘Flip-flops’ have become a theme for the Hedon Street Angels support of the charity; a flip-flop flipping competition was held at the entrance to the Methodist Church on Saturday and the girls have convinced ASDA to donate 10-pairs to the charity.

The gorgeous cakes may have been the main centre-pieces of Saturday’s coffee morning, but the real stars of the event were the girls themselves! The Coffee Morning raised £178. Well done Evelyn, Evie and Lizzie!

The Hull Street Angels Trinity are looking for new volunteers to help with their work – find out more at the website.
