HEDON MAYOR Councillor Neil Black cut the ribbon to open the new British Red Cross Shop in Hedon yesterday (2nd July 2015). Alison Stovin the shop’s manager presented the Mayor with a box of chocolates to thank him for officially opening the new furniture and furnishings store which is located just opposite the existing Red Cross charity shop in Watmough’s Arcade.
“It’s a very impressive shop!” said Mr Mayor after having a sneak preview of the shop prior to the opening. The very first customer in the new shop after the Mayor was Susannah Stansfield who lives near to the store in the centre of Hedon. Susannah had been waiting excitedly for the shop to open. “It’s very good! It’s like a department store. I’ll be popping in here regularly” she said.
Yorkshire Regional Retail Manager Dawn West said that it was a time of growth for the Red Cross shopping arm and this was one of four new stores recently opened in Yorkshire.
Money raised in the British Red Cross shops help fund the charity’s life-saving work in the UK and overseas.
