A GORGEOUS Hedon garden is to be open for public viewing this month for charity. Derek and Mavis Rosindale will be opening their beautiful garden at OMEGA, 79 Magdalen Lane in Hedon, for public viewing in June as part of the National Gardens Scheme– Gardens Open for Charity. The garden will be open Saturday 20th June and Sunday 21st June 2015 from 12 to 5.30pm. The entry charge per adult is £3 (no charge for accompanied children). Cream Teas, beverages and cakes are available and afternoon tea can be booked in advance by telephone. Last June the Rosindale’s raised £1,000 which was from visitors to their OMEGA garden and also from plant sales. £350 went to Dove House Hospice. The Trustees of the National Gardens Scheme announced in March that £2.6 million had been distributed to its beneficiary charities as a result of garden openings in 2014. Garden notes: Front garden has box hedging and densely planted borders. Small side garden acers, ferns and planted troughs. The patio has planted containers. The back has herbaceous borders and a shady area. An arch leads to a small border, greenhouses and a young orchard. The wild garden will become a mini-meadow. A large range of perennial plants are for sale including hostas, succulents and some bedding plants. 1. A message from Mavis and Derek Rosindale on the NGS Open Garden weekend:

Thank you for all your support regarding the open garden. We raised £750 and are quite pleased with this under the circumstances. The Saturday was practically a ‘wash-out’ due to constant heavy showers and a lot of rain. A group visit, arranged by Janet Stephenson for the Hedon’ Methodist Friends’, boosted the coffers by £100 last Wednesday, which was very much appreciated.

All in all, I think everyone enjoyed their visit. We were able to donate £150 to Dove House Hospice.

    Sincere regards
    Mavis & Derek Rosindale

  2. Visited the garden on Sunday – beautiful !! Derek and Mavis were so helpful and welcoming to me and my friend Carole, thank you both Grace.x

  3. Hello Ray,
super article regarding our NGS Open Garden. Some information is wrong in that we open of 20th and 21st June not 15th… The entry price (set by NGS) is £3.00 not £2.50 and the opening times are 12 to 5.30 each day.

    1. Hi Mavis – Think you’ve been looking at an article from when Omega was open in previous years. Definitely 20th and 21st – and folks, it’s definitely worth a visit on either the Saturday or the Sunday!
