Local London Marathon runners

RunningHelen Graham Marathon runnerIT’S the LONDON MARATHON again on Sunday 26th April 2015. Several local runners take part each year and raise lots of money for good causes. In February we told you about Helen Graham who is running the Marathon for Mind with the support of colleagues in Hedon Fitmums (visit Helen’s Virgin Money Giving web page).

Today we tell you about the efforts of James Baron who is running his second Marathon this year:

A year ago today two amazing things happened. Hull City won at Wembley to book an FA Cup final place and I ran the London Marathon – and raised lots of money for charity!

In just under two weeks time I will do it again! This year I am raising money for The Anthony Nolan Trust. A pioneering charity that saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Every day, we use our register to match remarkable donors willing to donate their blood stem cells to people who desperately need lifesaving transplants.

Everybody who remembers Saltend Club and Hedon United (Royal Oak Rangers) will know the reasons why I have chosen this charity. Every year we raise money for our mates and brothers who are sadly no longer with us. I am having a big push to raise lots in the days leading up to the 26th April.

Every bit helps. You can donate via my Just Giving web page.

  1. We have received this from Meningitis Now which we are delighted to publish about getting ready for Virgin London Marathon 2016:

    Dear Editor,

Places are always hotly contested, so we urge everyone to take advantage of our Virgin London Marathon 2016 package.

Those buzzing from this year’s 26.2-mile challenge, or anyone who missed out, can apply for a Meningitis Now place at next year’s event (date TBC) to fight the deadly disease.

Independent runners have already started to apply to join our team and reap the rewards.

We proudly provide a complete day, including a post-race reception with free shower, refreshments and a sports massage.

Meningitis Now also diligently delivers a team package, so you can unite, train, beat or convoy with your mates/colleagues. Why not make a weekend of it or even out fundraise them?

Every penny raised helps us fund pioneering preventative research, raise lifesaving awareness and support people affected by meningitis.

Registration is £50, and we ask people to raise £1,800. We provide fundraising and training tips, and a free running vest or T-shirt.

Join London Marathon’s unique atmosphere and help save lives and rebuild futures.

To apply for a place or for more information, call me on 01453 796023 or email ZoeC@meningitisnow.org.
