EYES across Hedon blinked upwards this morning during the partial Solar Eclipse. The Hedon Blog, rather than watch the eclipse, spent the 10 minutes of the ‘eating up’ of the sun, by ‘watching the watchers’.
Fly-swat viewer! These jolly eclipse-watchers used the ‘fly-swat’ approach to diffuse the sun’s rays! Rumour has it this novel approach was first suggested by customers of Gail’s Flower Shop!
Strike the sun pose! Work stopped for a few seconds on Market Hill on oak tree planting (they’re planting 17 new young trees around the town) and a dramatic pose was struck as the sun began to be obscured by the moon – but not for long as Des Suddaby (Hedon Town Council) cracked the whip saying: “We’ve got work to do! We don’t want to be accused of watching eclipses all day!”
Pinhole paper viewing: Cheryl Jones (centre) of the Yorkshire Mobility shop on New Road was catching the interests of passers-by as she demonstrated the paper pin-hole approach to view the phenomenon!
Me… I watched the repeats afterwards on the telly!
