BARBER SHOP AJ’s based on Baxtergate will be closing down officially at the end of the week.
The closure of the shop which opened in September 2012 need not mean that customers have to lose business proprietor Vicki as their barber; she will be operating via a mobile business.
In other business news…
The Meat Trader wholesale and retail butcher shop on New Road will be opening its doors to the public on Monday 9th March 2015.
A Daycare Centre for adults with learning disabilities has opened on Tower House Lane. Active Day Care Hull will have a free pick-up and drop of service within 4 miles of their base off Hedon Road.
Pool, table tennis, computers, large screen TV and other facilities will be available. The centre will also offer a regular series of trips and outings.
Another vets will be opening in Thorngumbald soon after getting planning approval in August 2014. The branch of Kingston Vets is currently being converted from a former residential property on Main Road, Thorngumbald.
Kingston Vets already have five practices in Hull and one in Cottingham.
The biggest business news story in Thorngumbald currently, however, is the planning application submitted to build a new Co-operative Food convenience store but after first demolishing the Royal Mail public house.
A Public Meeting has been organised at the Thorngumbald Village Hall tonight (26th February 2015) at 8pm to allow public discussion on the planning application to take place.
On a lighter note, the window display at Johnson’s of Hedon hardware store on Johnson’s Corner regularly changes, but the current kitchen ware display contains a gravity-defying wine bottle! Very good – you must go and have a look!
