BUSINESS SNIPPETS – noticed this week:
- It is sad to report that after six months the Hedon Fitness and Nutrition shop on New Road managed by Rob Barr has closed down “due to unforeseen circumstances”. The shop’s Facebook Page says that they are sorry to be leaving and thanks are offered to all the customers that have supported them along the way.
- After three years in the town as licensees of the King’s Head, Nick and Sue Parkin have left the pub. We wish Nick and Sue all the best for the future. The pub’s Facebook Page has been closed down.
- The Silver Star Chinese takeaway at No. 1 Market Place is currently closed until Friday 5th December 2014.
On a positive note… HU12 Online is pleased to welcome Sue Beautyman and her CraftMarkets as an advertiser and also as one of our Hedon Blog sponsors! Sue started her business by selling at Hedon Market but has now established herself at Skirlington Market winning the ‘Trader of the Month’ accolade on two separate occasions (April and November); she has recently pioneered another outlet at Ryehill Village Hall.

totally agree. Hedon pubs need a makeover and made into more traditional pubs like they used to be a few years ago.
King’s is a fantastic historic building and I agree with Phil; it has great potential to be quirky, proper local and will hopefully attract a wider clientele under its new management.
The Kings has a lot of potential, it would be great to revert back to a traditional real ale pub than it’s disco lights trying to be the Tower nightclub.
It’s a shame that Hedon’s pubs aren’t so much better. Apart form The Station which is the best, Haven Arms have a good selection of ales, Shaky is way too small but Kings and Queens need a reinvention.
