BRISK SALES of the new Hedon Town Calendar for 2015 took place yesterday at the Wednesday Market.
Hedon Town Councillors were still setting up their stall outside Hedon Post Office when they had their first public sale of the calendar to Joyce Brown. Joyce bought a calendar and soon came back with a friend who said that she buys copies of the calendar every year to send to her family abroad to remind them of their home town.
The calendar comprises of 12 distinctive images depicting scenes from Hedon. The images were chosen from amongst photographs sent in by members of the public but also includes some taken by councillors themselves.
This is the second time that Hedon Town Council has produced a calendar and this time it has been published much earlier in the year in order to generate more opportunities for sales before the Christmas rush.
The calendar sells for £2.50 and the proceeds like last year will be spent on organising a series of community events for the benefit and entertainment of local residents.
Forty calendars were sold at yesterday’s launch stall. An initial order of 500 calendars have been printed, but Councillor Di Storr from the council’s Events Working Group suggests that more copies will be printed if the demand from local residents and visitors to the town justifies it.
The calendar is available to buy now from the Town Hall (open from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays), but is likely to be available at other local outlets too.
The Hedon Town Calendar has been produced with the kind support of local businesses: The Rolling Pin, Fresh ‘n’ Fruity, Hedon Carpets & Beds, Hedon Hire, Dennis Estate Agents, Nutmegs, Haven Arms, Yorkshire Mobility, Hedon Insurance, and Johnson’s of Hedon.
