THESE marvellous photographs were taken from the air in 1925 and perhaps are the earliest aerial images of the distillery site at Saltend (now BP).
The images are included on the Britain from Above website and show a series of photographs taken by Flight AFL3060 on the 6th May 1925. There is no information about the aircraft taking the photos.
A total of 66 images are available showing from as far as Beverley on the North Bank of the Humber to Brigg and Cleethorpes on the South Bank. Photos include thirteen taken at Saltend, and also images of Hull, Hedon, Patrington and Withernsea.

PROMPTED by the aerial photo, Jim Uney has sent us this:
THE PHOTO is of Mr Herbert Green’s Business founded in 1922. Also shown are details of buildings in the yard, and my descriptions of other surrounding businesses.
When I started work at Hull Distillery in 1945 all the buildings shown still remained, but there had been many additions, most of which were still in wartime camouflage décor.
My cropped photo shows, in 1945:
Hope this has been of interest,
Regards Jim Uney.
