YOUNG PEOPLE across the East Riding are being invited to help shape their communities by joining new youth forums – and a launching meeting is going to be held in Hedon.
The youth forums will give young people a say on issues affecting them, providing a platform to shape future services to meet their needs and commission new services. They will be made up of young people aged between 11 and 24.
There is a budget of £40,000, donated by the Dewhirst Charitable Trust, to commission future services in the East Riding. The young people will be encouraged to lead the commissioning and in the process learn new skills including researching, planning, communication, decision-making and budgeting.
The new youth forums are being launched by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s youth and family support service, in partnership with East Riding Healthwatch.
Launch meetings are being held across the East Riding, when any young people who is interested in taking part is welcome to go along.
The meeting in Hedon will be held on Thursday 2nd October 2014 from 6:15pm – 7:30pm at the Red Cross Hall on Sheriff’s Highway.
