News on the ‘Hull expansion’ Referendum

Referendum mock upWARD COUNCILLORS and representatives of town and parish councils have been invited to a meeting in Beverley to be ‘briefed’ on the East Riding Council’s proposed referendum regarding the expansion of Hull’s boundaries into the East Riding.

The meeting takes place on Monday 19th May at County Hall, and following this it is hoped that more public information will be available on the date and terms of the referendum.

Locally, there has been a call for a campaign of resistance to the prospect of a ‘Greater Hull’ being created through absorbing land in the East Riding. Nearly 86% of those taking part in a Hedon Blog poll expressed a preference to remain part of the East Riding.
