ALISON HALL RESTAURANT & BAR on St Augustine’s Gate, Hedon has ceased trading.

The news was posted on the venue’s front door and on its Facebook Page on Monday 6th January 2014.

Only the day before on Sunday 5th the venue was still taking bookings and had posted its Pudding Menu on Facebook and was asking people to sign up to its online newsletter.

The short Facebook message said:

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the closing of Alison Hall tonight.

Future bookings will be called and informed. We have met and served some lovely people over the years, thank you to all of you!

The entire Alison Hall team x

The news of the closure will disappoint customers from across the district who appreciated the fine dining offered by the establishment.

The owners of the closed restaurant also manage Garbutts and Pearson’s Bar on Princes Avenue in Hull.

  1. We too have had many a good meal there. Chris always tried his best. Anybody know if there is any truth in the rumour that it is opening again soon as an Indian restaurant?

  2. It’s a real shame for the town that AH has closed. I’d like to see it reopen as a bar that does food as there’s a real shortage of places for a good drink in Hedon.

  3. We were very sad to hear the news. We have enjoyed many delicious meals, good company, after work. Will certainly miss it – such a shame for Hedon and we want to wish Chris and his team all the best where ever you are! Thank you for your friendly service and providing something different.

  4. I went there with my wife on many occasions and the food and service was of a very high standard then things seem to go wrong – the menu changed for the worst the quality of food went down hill as well as the service – on the last occasion we went and ordered our starter which was soup which was fine then waited over an hour for the mains to which the floor manager ignored us so by then my wife and I got our coats and walked out and never returned
p/s I say floor manager – having to say maître d would be an insult to those in the profession.

as with a lot of eateries that have gone down hill in the past – complacency will always get the better of them

  5. Fully agree with the other comments
as a family we have had some really lovely meals & held birthday celebrations there the chefs & staff have always been very friendly & polite & provided good quality food.
I’m sorry to see the restaurant close it brought another alternative eating venue to Hedon, I only hope that someone has the passion to provide Hedon with a replacement venue.

  6. Oh what a shame! Have enjoyed some lovely meals here, the food and atmosphere has always been fantastic, as have the staff. I know it’s probably a sign of the times but I do think that people don’t always appreciate a local business or service enough until it’s gone! I’d like to wish owners and staff all the best for the future and give them a big ‘thank you’ for trying to provide us with an lovely local restaurant.
