A FIRE took place at the Kingstown Hotel on Hull Road on Wednesday evening 24th July 2013.
The Humberside Fire & Rescue Service say that the incident was attended at 7:55pm and involved a deep fat fryer catching fire. Two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, a fire blanket and a thermal image camera were used to tackle the incident.
Jim Lindop, the Town Mayor and a retired fire officer, was in the bar with his wife Sue at the time, and prior to the fire engines attending had offered assistance with a fire extinguisher, but staff assured him that the fire suppression system had been activated.
No one was hurt during the incident.
