First team: At Airmyn CC, skipper Rich Ingram, batted resolutely for his attractive effort of 61, including seven well struck fours and adding four sixes into the bargain, before he was caught, when the Hedon side were offered the first knock. His consistency has now given him an aggregate of 447, and if his current batting form continues, a possibility exists, with nine matches remaining, for him to reach the magical total of a thousand runs?
Only Mike Oliver with his 25 and left-hander Phil Hill adding 17 lent any real support, in a disappointing 137 total off 38 overs.
The home side experienced little difficulty whilst easing to a seven wicket win, despite Andy Kunkell’s useful spell worth 3 for 36 in his 9 overs.
An XI: Conversely, there was a real run feast at Middle Lane, where the An XI home side took the game well away from Hornsea CC thirds, by hitting what could be the biggest ever team total recorded on their home ground, of 317 for 4 from their allotted 40 overs.
Chris White really enjoyed the sweltering conditions on a true and fast pitch, with a well constructed maiden century, resulting from no less than 15 fours together with two sixes, to finish on 115 off 96 deliveries, before he fell. The seasider’s attack really struggled as former Humbleton CC all-rounder Ian Harrison, gave every support to his colleague, crashing 18 fours and a six, in a fine unbeaten 114, as they took the perspiring attack apart.
Earlier Steve Crane had opened up with 25, to lead the way, with Tom Verity remaining 15 not out, at the end.
Steve Forrester bowled tidily to close with 2 for 76, albeit in a lost cause.
In reply to the An Xl’s 317 for 4, as the Seasiders were finally dismissed for 140, to give the Hedon based side a big 177 run win.
The Match Ball was Sponsored by Cranswick Country Foods Ltd, of Preston.
