HULL LAW FIRM Andrew Jackson has launched a series of monthly Wills clinics in Hedon.
The firm, which has been running clinics in Hull, Beverley and Cottingham for over 10 years, has decided to expand into Hedon with the next clinics taking place at Alexandra Hall on Wednesdays 10th July, 14th August and 11th September 2013.
Richard Hoare, head of private client at Andrew Jackson explains:
“Following the Lord Chancellor’s recent announcement (added as an online Google document – Editor), Will writing is to remain an unregulated activity. This is despite recommendations from the Legal Services Board that it should become a regulated activity following an extensive report into the provision of Will writing and estate administration.
“The report highlighted a number of concerns into the current unregulated practice carried out by non-legal firms including poor quality advice and drafts; inappropriate sales practices; inadequate arrangements for the safe keeping of Wills; and the absence of an effective redress mechanism. All firms of solicitors are regulated and each solicitor is subject to a Code of Conduct but despite us being regulated and our need for appropriate insurance our private client matters remain competitively priced.
“Our clinics have proved to be hugely popular, as members of our specialist team provide a free initial 30 minute meeting when you can talk about Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection matters, estate administration and any other related matter.”

Hedon Blog Note: The Legal Services Board was created to ensure that regulation in the legal services sector is carried out in the public interest; and that the interests of consumers are placed at the heart of the system.
