The South Holderness Cricket Club An Xl entertain Hull Zingari III, who are currently the leaders of the York Eastern Conference Division 2, and with a game in hand, are some 18 points in front of the third placed, Hedon based side.

Match starts at 2 pm. Jane Brooks Law, of St. Augustine’s Gate, Hedon are the Match Ball Sponsors this week.

South Holderness CC First Team

Visitors to Humbleton CC, in the Holderness local derby resulted in a narrow, albeit nine run, success for the Hedon based side after the visitors had totalled 170 for 8 in their allotted 48 overs.

Left hander Phil Hill opened to crack a six in his 26, to get the scoreboard ticking, captain Rich Ingram adding a sound 22, which paved the way for all rounder Lewis Duell to come to the crease to go on to smash a superb 91 not out including 11 boundaries and a big six. The duo of Tom Peyman 3 for 57, and captain Andy Johnson, with his for 38 in 12overs against his former Club, caused an decrease in the scoring rate, as quick wickets were lost. Rob Johnson chipped in with his 2 for 34.

Skipper and all rounder Ingram proceeded to played a big part in the victory, with four crucial wickets, 4 for 54 in 11overs, to help set up the success , as Rich Rosindale (2 for 25) and Conn Brattan ( 2 for 28 in ten) lent a hand, as the home side found themselves 161 all out.

Keeper Jamie Walkley had a good day with a stumping and his three catches, when Tom Peyman (23), five boundaries from Mark Oakes in a solid 36, plus teenager Rob Johnson enjoying a useful match with a six in his unbeaten 38, to set up an exciting finish.

Humbleton 161 a.o. lost to SHCC 170 for 8.

South Holderness CC An XI

At Middle Lane, the An Xl , were just unable to secure a win, in yet another tight finish, as Dalton Holme finished their 40 overs on 159 for 4, before Holderness replied 155 for 9, in the eventual draw.

This result means the SHCC now drop into third place in the table, some seven points adrift of Dalton Holme.

Chris Todd cracked seven boundaries in a fluent 65, whilst Phil Williamson finished on 43 not out. Andy Kunkel returned 2 for 34 in his 11 overs.
Vice-captain and left hander Gary Chapman proved to be a vital cog in the Hedon side’s batting, as he easily top scored with four fours and a six, in a pleasing undeafted 58, Graham Slinger adding a sound 17 and Steve Crane 14. Lewis Draper however turned in a superb spell to take 8 for 48 in 16 excellent overs, for the visitors.

SHCC An Xl 155 for 9 drew with Dalton Holme 159 for 4.
