ON SATURDAY 18th MAY 2013, the An Xl Cricket Team acts as hosts to Gilberdyke CC with the match starting at 2.00pm. Match Ball being Sponsored by A. Draper, Metal Agents, of Raven Street, Hull.

Cricket ballIn good news for Junior Cricket in the town, Malc Ripley reports that two of the South Holderness CC Under 13’s Juniors did really well to be selected for the East Yorkshire U13’s Representative Xl, against Scarborough area U13’s . They contributed towards a victory for the East Yorkshire side played at the North Marine Road ground last Tuesday.

Liam Colclough and all-rounder Luke Ingram, the latter distinguishing himself, when opening their innings, with an attractive 46 before he was caught behind!

The visitors totalled 148 for 4 in their 25 overs before, the North Yorkshire side were restricted to 72 for 9 in reply, when time was called.

Malc Ripley reviews last week’s senior matches:

cricket player and ball bwLast Saturday’s two Senior games on the 11th May were practically reversal roles of the week earlier, as the SHCC first team registered a somewhat surprising, easy victory over visitors to Middle Lane, by overcoming reigning Alliance Champions Kirk Ella by six wickets from 26 overs, with their 100 for 4 reply.

All rounder Lewis Duell, who is stepping into his Dad Steve’s footsteps, with some fine performances, played a huge part in the Hedon side’s win, easily being the Man Of the Match with 4 fours and a big six in his unbeaten 40, after recording his best ever pace bowling figures with a fine 5 for 41 in ten overs.

Another all-rounder, the long-serving Rich Rosindale, also did well, hitting a six in his 31 not out, to clinch a welcome win, after grabbing 2 for 15 in 12 very accurate overs, Neil Colclough also adding 15.

The weakened visitors, without skipper Ali McCann who was watching from the sidelines with a bad knee injury, found runs difficult to come by, in between the heavy showers, as they were all out for 97. Kallum Cudbertson almost played a lone roll, as he collected eight boundaries before he fell for a solid 38, Punit Nanda adding 12 in support, in Holderness’s first win, when J P Dennis, Estate Agents of Hedon, was the Match Ball Sponsor.

The An Xl travelled to Newport CC, but experienced a poor day, losing their first match of the campaign by a 71 run margin, finally being dismissed for a moderate 132. Former Humbleton CC batsman Ian Harrison, looked good with a well struck 49, but after he and Ryan Oliver (18) departed, only veteran Steve Crane with 13 managed double figures, as wickets tumbled.

Home team Newport CC ll, totalled 203 for 8 in their allotted 40 overs, when Graham Slinger, Liam Colclough, Harrison, and Chris White chipped in with a couple of victims apiece.

Vice – Captain Gary Chapman top edged a rising ball into his mouth, to cause the left-hander a nasty injury.
