CONCERNS have been expressed about the state of a footpath which connects the bottom of Ivy Lane with the existing tarmac pathway leading to New Road.
This is a well used route, used by people at all times, particular by children and parents accessing Hedon Primary School and the nursery. The footpath is of the type you would find on a regularly used country walk and could perhaps be described more accurately as a dirt track.
Now Mat – a local resident – has written to Hedon Town Council to ask if something can be done to improve the situation.
“It would be a real encouragement to everyone to walk into Hedon and the schools if they were able to do so without becoming covered in mud. A better footpath may well even encourage more people to leave their cars at home and help to alleviate some of the parking issues in Hedon.”
Mat recognises in his letter that some work has been done in the past to lay chippings in an attempt to designate a footway, but emphasises that during wet weather this chipping surface is not up to the task. He asks the council to consider installing a permanent and more suitable tarmac footpath at the location.
What do other residents think about Mat’s suggestion? Let us know?
