REGULARS at The Shakespeare Inn were delighted to present Dove House with the proceeds from their Movember moustache month on Saturday afternoon.
The whole pub fundraising effort raised £1,473.50 for Dove House which was presented to Becky Baynes from the Hospice.
John Carter had suggested that the pub take part in Movember, and he and others in the pub rose to the challenge growing lots of hair during November 2012. The ‘Shave-Off’ on December 1st became a real community event with people donating prizes to be raffled off and Sally Sanderson making some special Movember buns to sell for a donation to the good cause.
As reported previously, John Carmichael raised £350 himself for getting his 23-year-old distinguished whisker-set lopped off!
Since the Shave-Off Sarah Moon at the pub has raised some more money by having a special moustache tattoo done… fortunately not under her nose but on her finger so she can create a Movember momento on demand!
Becky Baynes, Dove House Fundraising Co-ordinator said: “It was great to meet everyone at the Shakespeare Inn who raised such a fantastic amount for Dove House Hospice. It is only with the support of such thoughtful people in our local community, that the hospice can keep helping local patients and their families. They have all shown that fundraising can be a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing what moustaches they create next year!
Thank you from all of us at Dove House Hospice.”
A truly fantastic effort from regulars at The Shakespeare!
