COMMUNITY GROUPS and initiatives are widespread in Hedon. Covering every sphere of life and activity, the town’s community and voluntary sector enhances the quality of life of people living here.
But who exactly are these groups? What do they do? Who’s involved?
HU12 Online already has a very basic directory of local businesses, but the Hedon Blog wants to do the same – and more – for local community groups that operate in Hedon.
We hope to be able to provide an ONLINE DIRECTORY of local groups that will list what groups do and their public contact details. This could be updated regularly online, but also produced in print as a booklet to be placed in libraries and public buildings. For those groups that don’t have a website, then your listing in the Directory could also serve as your web page!
Additionally, in co-operation with the South Holderness Adult Education Centre and their Community Learning Innovation Fund (CLIF) project we hope to provide local groups with more than just a ‘listing’ in a directory, but an opportunity to share their information with other local groups and identify areas where they might work together to tackle local needs and increase local skills.
The starting point for the project is to collect information on those groups that want to be part of the directory – and we start that task today. The information we collect will be used for the Directory and shared with the CLIF project – it will not be used for any other purpose.
