WE ARE DELIGHTED to reproduce a photograph taken in 1950-51 of the South Holderness Cricket Club An XI team.

The photograph taken in front of the Middle Lane pavilion includes (sat centre front with the dark jacket) Scorer Malcolm Ripley. Malc is now an Umpire and a passionate advocate of local cricket – and of course keeps the Hedon Blog updated with news from the cricket world.

The photo was kindly sent in by Pete Robson who also appears on the picture just to the right of Malc.

NEWS: Whilst appreciating the the 131 year heritage of the Club, it’s also good to see that ‘history’ is still being made at South Holderness Cricket Club:

Malc Ripley reported this week that left-arm seam bowler Connaire Brattan, aged just 19, and the Head Coach after being appointed at the Club’s AGM in November, has just passed his UKCC Level Two Cricket Coaching Award under the auspices of East Yorkshire Cricket Development Manager Reece Bird, of the Yorkshire Cricket Board. Malc says that Connaire passed the Award with flying colours!

  1. In response to James, regarding the Ellertons in the cricket photograph. Yes theey were of the same family. Thier father was the postmaster at Hedon. Before, duuring and after the war. He was also responsible for a lot of the old postcaards of Hedon.
