THE NAFFLE was one of the unusual stalls available at the St Augustine’s Church Christmas Market on the morning of Saturday 8th December.
Organiser of the stall Barbara explained that we would win a prize every time, sometimes it would be a nice surprise… but sometimes it might be a bit naff!
The Christmas Market this year stands out from other Christmas Fairs organised across Holderness, because the majority of the stalls were ‘home grown’. By that we mean they were run by supporters of the church who each had come up with different ideas for raising money for the Church Restoration Funds.
One very fun game was the ‘Ping Pong’ challenge which involved getting 5 balls for 50p and the aim was to get one to land inside one of a dozen or so stainless-steel teapots and jugs!
There were a few bric-a-brac stalls such as the one provided by Mavis and Betty – and throughout the morning Church organist Colin Sharp kept up a medley of Christmas tunes!
The Hedon Twirlers provided more entertainment!
