JAIMIE-LEIGH SMITHSON, the 11-year-old new singing-sensation from Hedon, has got through to the final stages of the Open Mic UK national talent competition!
Open Mic UK is the singing competition which searches for the UK’s best singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists. Thousands of hopefuls entered the earlier auditions and Regional Live Finals, but Jaimie-Leigh caught the eye of judges in Leeds, and is now in the running to win a place in the National Finals at The O2 in London.
“We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also the potential to become a professional recording artist.” – Chris Grayston, Events Coordinator, Open Mic UK.
“Jaimie – We really loved your confidence and you looked like you were really enjoying the performance which is great to see! Try to remember that stage presence is important and not to neglect your crowd! Use the stage and engage the audience more. But your vocals were spot on – a future star!” – Feedback to Jaimie-Leigh from the Regional Final judges on her version of Black Heart by Stooshe.
Jaimie-Leigh has now got to impress a live audience and judges in the Area Finals. She will be performing in the Under 16s Finals category at Dewsbury Town Hall on Saturday 24th November 2012 from 12:45pm. Tickets cost £9 – £12.
The Grand Final will be held on Saturday 19th January 2013 at Indigo2 within The O2 complex – we hope Jamie-Leigh will be there!
