Wednesday Writings – “In it” a shame for Chickens!

Chickens by Lorraine Ellis (Flo)
(Must be read and said in a ‘Ull haccent! – Editor)

In it a shame for chickens,
always getting plucked,
In it a shame for chickens often getting cooked.
In it a shame for chickens picking and pecking the corn,
in it a shame for chickens,
and you never hear them moan,
in it a shame for chickens,
when we eat their unborn babies with bacon,
in it a shame for chickens,
forlorn and so forsaken.
And In it a shames for chickens,
when you find bits of their flesh in your stew.
Init a shame for chickens,
and they never do ‘nowt’ to you.
In it a shame for chickens,
all trussed up in a row,
in it a shame for chickens,
Oh but in it a shame for them though.

And in it a shame for turkeys as well.
pecking so hard for a living.
And then our American cousins,
go and eat them at Thanks Giving.
OH but in it a shame for chickens,
Especially at Christmas time,
getting all washed down with glasses of sparkling wine.

Oh in it a shame for chickens,
roosting in the cold, cold backyard,
In it a same for chickens,
when there fried in pans of lard.

So the next time you have just eaten chicken,
That’s been cooking nicely for an hour and the odd minute.
just wipe your mouth and say to yourself,
“Ah bloody hell  but it’s a shame for chickens in it…….”

Lorraine Ellis (Flo)

Lorraine said to us: “My crazy chicken poem, I will understand if it is a little too silly for the blogs, but it should fetch a few laughs.” – And we agree – a crazy poem, that made us laugh!
