LOCAL CRICKET: The South Holderness An Xl travelled to Newport and improved their performances to register their second win (writes Malc Ripley), which lifts them up to third from the bottom of the Y&DSCL Eastern Conference Div 1, 29 points to the good of base side Skidby.

With Kristian Rumble once again in excellent form with the ball returning 6 for 35 figures in 14.1 overs, whilst Lee Darby had 2 for 16, the hosts ended 84 all out in 28 overs as only Dan Smith with 18 could offer any resistance, young Jack Riley taking three fine catches in the process to lend support.

Acting Club Chairman and left-hander Gary Chapman, at last found form with a solid unbeaten 56, his cause being helped by no less than the 26 extras in the Hedon based side’s 96 total from 37.4 overs, when bowlers generally dominated on a damp track.
