A FAMILY from Hedon is to be given the VIP treatment on Saturday when they take part in Kingstown Hotel’s re-opening Family Fun Day event. The family will be given a complimentary meal and enjoy all the children’s entertainment on offer: face painters, balloon modellers and jugglers.
The Bristow family from Hedon had their lives turned upside down three years ago when three-year old daughter, Grace, was diagnosed with Leukaemia. But Fayre & Square pub the Kingstown Hotel, on Hull Road, has given the Bristow’s something to smile about next weekend. The family has been picked to be the Family of the Year and will officially declare the new-look £400,000 pub open on Saturday 11th February.
The Bristow’s; mum Sam, dad Mike and their daughter Grace, were nominated by cousin Amy Beaumont, for their strength during difficult times. Due to the support Grace requires Sam has taken on the role of full-time carer and the family regularly have to make visits to Leeds Hospital for Grace’s treatment.
Kingstown Hotel general manager Stuart Plumb said: “Sam and her family are the prefect choice to be our Family of the Year. Not only is Grace’s continued strength commendable but the support and dedication of her parents also deserves recognition. We’re proud to welcome them to our new look pub on Saturday 11th February and give them a well earn treat.”
The Bristow’s have also been put forward for a nationwide competition to be crowned Fayre & Square’s Family of the Year, which will conclude in June 2012.
The free family fun day will be held at the Kingstown Hotel on Saturday 11th February 2012 between 12:00 noon and 4:00pm.
