ROLL UP! ROLL UP!
Libraries across the East Riding are getting ready to introduce children to a summer circus spectacle that will keep them reading throughout the school summer holidays with the 2011 Summer Reading Challenge.

‘Circus Stars’, the Summer Reading Challenge 2011, is an immensely popular and successful reading initiative. Children are challenged to read 6 books over the summer holidays.

Once registered children are given an exciting pop-up stage and stickers to start them off. As they read books over the summer, the children collect more stickers, some scratch and sniff, which they add to the stage to create their own Circus Stars performance.

The children can read any books they want from first readers to Harry Potter, poetry, stories or non-fiction. And it’s all free fun, which is top news for parents! The Summer Reading Challenge is just one of many exciting schemes public libraries are developing to help children love reading, gaining confidence and new skills.

Mums, dads and carers just need to just pop down to their local library and register. Places are limited so book early! Contact Hedon Library for more details.
