BP RUGBY UNION FC who play at Eastsides, formally Salt End Sports Field,
travelled to Driffield on the 25th April to play Scarborough in the East Yorkshire Division 2 Merit League Final 2011.
BP moved forward with the pack heading the charge with Rich Scott forcing his way over but the kick was missed.
BP again pushed forward and, following a break and line out, Jon Barratt scored a try driven over with help from the forwards, Ben Newton converting.
Scarborough came back with the half time score 14-12 in their favour.
At the start of the second half Scarborough came back into the game and
after a quick tap penalty slipped through for a try which was converted. Two
penalties for BP and one for Scarborough left BP 24-18 down.
With time slipping away BP forced wave after wave of attack towards the opposition’s line, Jon Barratt, Ben Glover and Rich Scott pounding away at the Scarborough defence, all to be denied.
With 3 minutes to go Vice Captain Adam Lindop secured the ball and barged over the top to score. With the pressure on, Ben Newton converted to put BP 25-24 in the lead.
Defending with spirit, heart and passion the whistle finally went and the team and its supporters erupted for a great win.
