Bus service reductions prompt complaints

Shanks pony only alternative to bus stop cuts?

COMPLAINTS AND A PETITION have greeted the proposals by EYMS (East Yorkshire Motor Services) to reduce the frequency of the No. 76 bus service.

The changes to services announced by EYMS and reported on HU12 last week did not initially seem to affect the South West of Holderness. However, the Holderness Gazette reports today that the altered services will no longer pick up and drop passengers off at Ryehill or Bridge Bungalows bus stops.

Jean West, a Thorngumbald Parish Councillor, has organised a petition to urge EYMS to change its mind. The Gazette quotes Councillor West: “What has really annoyed me is that there have been no notices put up about the buses not stopping at these stops. We just found out by word of mouth.”

The service is due to change on 15th May 2011. People with objections to the proposals or who wish to express their concerns should e-mail them to enquiries@eyms.co.uk and mark the e-mails For the Attention of Bob Rackley, Commercial Manager.
