Flu vaccine shortage

Hedon Group Practice

HEDON GP DOCTOR ANDREW GREEN has admitted to the Hull Daily Mail that there is a continuing problem with the supply of local flu vaccines. This follows an admission by The Department of Health (BBC News) that “local supply” problems do exist although there is no national shortage of vaccine.

Local shortages have arisen following a rush to obtain flu jabs at GP surgeries after recent TV and News media coverage of flu outbreaks.

In an interview published today in the Hull Daily Mail the Hedon Group Practice GP, and local member of the British Medical Association’s GPs Committee, Dr Green said “Locally, there is a problem with the supply of the flu vaccine. Most general practices have got through the stocks, which they ordered last year.”

Dr Green advises in the interview: “I understand there is a possibility of future stocks coming,” he said. “People in ‘at risk’ groups who haven’t had the vaccine should contact their GP and they can keep a list if stocks are replenished.”

The Hedon Group Practice website currently features a Noticeboard announcement that the Practice is currently vaccinating patients over 65 years old or in clinical risk groups. However, the Flu Vaccination Clinics advertised are from last year.

There is no specific mention of flu services or vaccines on the Church View Surgery website.
