THE MET OFFICE has released an advisory severe weather warning for the Yorkshire and Humber area leading up to the weekend.
“There is a moderate risk of severe weather on Thursday (25th Nov 2010). There is potential for snow showers to become frequent in places giving localised accumulations of 2-5 cm of snow inland with 10 cm or more on high ground.”
East Riding of Yorkshire Council says that it is well prepared for the winter. Its fleet of salt spreaders and snow-ploughs is prepared for the onset of any freezing conditions. Up to 21 gritters can spread between 160 and 320 Tonnes of salt on each turnout.
