T’AI CHI is a form of exercise that focuses on cultivating the flow of energy in the body by performing a slow, gentle and precise sequence of movements that channel energy around the body.
And according to Sheila Dickinson, Master Instructor and President of the LFA Health Arts, those who regularly practice the art have found relief from arthritis, stress, high blood pressure, ME, MS, and insomnia! In a Radio Humberside interview in 2007 Sheila claimed that her practise of the gentle movements of Tai Chi on a daily basis had led to her not needing to visit a doctor for over 20 years!
“Your own body’s internal energy (Chi energy), plays a vital role in the quality of your health. Chi energy is with you from the day you are born until the day you die. A person with a highly developed Chi energy through practicing Tai Chi experiences very few illnesses. That is what we are all working towards.” Sheila via LFA T’ai Chi Website
Of course as well as any health benefits, then T’ai Chi with its concentrated, controlled movement, balance and coordination, can be a very enjoyable leisure pursuit and hobby.
You have an opportunity to experience T’ai Chi in a series of new classes starting in Hedon. An evening class starts on Wednesday 8th September 8:00pm – 9:30pm and a morning class starts on Friday 10th September from 10:00am – 11:00am.
The class leaflet says that to do T’ai Chi all you need are “loose-fitting clothes and a smile!”
Both classes take place at the Alexandra Hall and cost £4 per class (taken in 4-week blocks of £16). For further information contact Sheila or Malcolm on 01482 898092 or at e-mail email@example.com
